Ain’t it crazy how shit be, that’s why I flush it.
Hip hop is the soap opera of music. And I am “ify” about this post because I am not an expert. I am only a fan of the music and maybe I only get the hearsay but it is strange turn of events in the rap world.
The long time partnership of Lil Wayne and Birdman. The father and son connection from the beginning was what solidified that bond for me. Wayne was Birdman Jr. Proudly the son of Stunna. These guys were making music back in 90’s and now in 2015 Weezy was suing the Cash Money label for 51million, Birdman wasn’t releasing the fifth Carter.
Wayne wants off Cash Money plain and simple. Honestly I feel that Wayne got his hype and credit from his ability to make and release music at his own pace. That’s what he’s known for, the classic mixtapes and countless features. He puts out music. This dude was putting stuff out even in prison.
So what is the problem now?
Wayne is immortal in the hip hop world and has said that the Carter 5 is his last record before he retires. It seems all the greats come to that point where they need to step back and do other things. Weezy is a talented man and is capable of doing whatever he sets his mind to. It’s just bizarre to see this guy work. He’s put out a Rock album, given other rappers their opportunity for fame, and even learned how to skateboard during his career. Bringing new avenues to hip hop, Wayne can’t be denied his mark on the genre.
His influence is on the whole world. So has it reached that point in time when Wayne can no longer be contained on Cash Money? He has made enough music for a lifetime and should be able to live and not rap. I think he wants to pull a “Jay-Z.” Jay-Z is a relevant rapper but he’s also this amazing entrepreneur in other worlds besides music. Jay retired and came back to making music because he was missed. It’s the same thing for Wayne. He wants to be called back by the community. And it’s a bold move to make but Wayne has been known to call himself the best rapper alive.
I’m anxious for the next scene. Will the Carter five ever gets released? Will Baby and Wayne find peace? Is Wayne going to reestablish his music career outside of this once loyal connection?
I had an instructor say that if the person was not in the room and was being discussed then it was gossip. I know this is all up in the air for discussion but all in all none of my business. But I can’t help but be intrigued with what will happen with this once powerful team. Pause.
